Food Intolerance Testing

Do you try your best to eat well and still have gut symptoms, lethargy, fatigue, only to name a few? Food intolerance could be the culprit. It is common and unfortunately on the rise in Australia. Australia has one of the highest allergy prevalence rates in the world. The most common food related offenders are dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, shellfish and peanuts.

The term food intolerance/sensitivity refers to a condition where an individual reacts to an ingested food as though it is a toxin. Foods that are normally considered healthy to most human immune systems, are considered a threat to those individuals with food intolerances. Symptoms vary considerably and individuals respond in different ways to different foods. Many people unfortunately live with minor or major symptoms of adverse food reactions for years thinking it is normal without ever suspecting the involvement of the immune system and the foods that trigger it.

Common conditions associated food sensitivities and intolerances include:

  • Arthritis

  • Asthma

  • Autoimmune conditions including Coeliac's, IBD, Hashmimotos, etc

  • Bloating and fluid retention

  • Behavioral problems in children

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • IBS - Abdominal Pain, Constipation & Diarrhea

  • Migraines, Headaches, Nausea

  • Mood disorders including Anxiety and Depression

  • Skin conditions- acne, eczema or rashes

Food Intolerance Testing is a test that I personally run in my clinic to help identify any intolerances and what foods you react to. The biggest cause is related to impaired gut health and intestinal permeability, also known as leaky gut. Finding out which foods you are reacting to and removing them from your diet, you reduce symptoms, inflammation and allow the gut to heal and repair. Once your gut is repaired, more often than not clients are able to reintroduce the reactive foods without any problems.

If you are experiencing one or more of the signs and symptoms mentioned or just don't fell well after eating, this maybe due to a food intolerance and this test might be the first step in restoring your health.
